Honestly, this time around I really trained for the Momentum Health DualX #3 at Van Gaalens; I ran like a mad man twice a week which I never did before. I felt good and a maybe a bit more confident than I should have been feeling.
Training has been going very well, I’ve been pushing myself and body to new levels; I also saw myself once or twice in a very dark place during training. “Batman” (coach) Devlin is working me too hard (we all know why), but it's been good and I feel great; I just forgot what it feels like to "rest" haha.
Anyway back to DualX, the warm up was great, I felt really good and was ready for the race. Count down and we were off! I sprinted to the front (I shouldn't have), opened up big strides and saw a small gap opening, but Brand du Plessis was on my heels - this man never has a bad day! He passed me after a km or so and I instantly felt my legs burning. Later on Bradley Weiss and Theo Blignaut caught up to me and I came into the transition in 4th.
Mike Ferreira was quick in transition and was now with me on the bike; together we chased Theo and caught him. Then our train was chasing Bradley; I fell off for a bit, but caught up to Mike again and we rode to the transition together. I sprinted out of transition for the final run like Akani Simbine and opened up a gap on Mike then maintained it to the end, finishing in 4th place.
The intensity at the Momentum DualX was on another level this time around; everyone was in very good shape. Now it's onwards with training and it's almost exam time so I’ll be behind the books for a while.
We’ll meet on the road or the starting line soon. Thanks to everyone for the love and continuous support.
