One thing about the Cape Epic, it tests every corner of your ability, strength, faith and emotions. Just two days ago I was contemplating dropping out of my 4th Absa Cape Epic with thoughts that I might injure my knee even more. I rode with straps and only decided to remove them yesterday for today's queen stage. Waking up I didn't feel like riding at all, my knee was still a bit sore but I still went to the start line with hope and faith that it will get better. 5km into the race it was just pain and I was thinking of calling it off at water point 1, but luckily before that my knee got way better and I was able to keep riding my bike.
So Clement and I are back to fight 'til the end (it's not over 'til the fat lady sings).
The queen stage was not as bad as it was meant to be, or as bad as people made it seem it was going to be. I laughed at the finish when one guy asked "why is this the queen stage, this was a princess stage."
Guess the "toughest" stage is over now, it's a "downhill from now on", yeah right! Tomorrow is another day, I'm really glad I didn't drop out of the Epic today. Tomorrow is another day, another fight.
Thanks to everyone for keeping me going yesterday and for reading my short blog for the Epic; 2 more days to go.
